KOSTADIS
- Unleash CDR

"Unleash" is the highly anticipated, second KOSTADIS solo album, almost 10 years after his debut release "San Aravas". While the first one was a loose mid-summer afternoon soundtrack of (mostly) acoustic experimental easy listening and his multi-instrumentalism abilities have shredded via different bands like Lost Bodies, Wham Jah + Acid Baby Jesus, "Unleash" shares an entirely focused approach, definite and mature. Spine-chilling soundscapes created by modular electronics, DIY junk contact mics and ribbon devices break the chains off the beast, which has been suffocating in low-light suburbia and introversion. The voice is free. Self is free. Barking at the right tree.
Edition of 100 copies digital printed carton covers.

- Trente Jours à Grande Échelle LP

Debut album by the French 4-piece Rien Virgule (members are Mathias Pontévia, Jean-Marc Reilla, Anne Careil and Manuel Duval [also of France Sauvage / La République des Granges fame]) where they deliver 6 strict, desolate, stomp pumping, cold modular-wave pieces with doses of synth-punk and electro-acoustic terror. Bedroom Solitary Vol.1: KASTEL - 39 1-Sided LP

Phase! is proud to present a series of one-sided LPs, called “Bedroom Solitary”. After 13 years of releasing recordings on a pretty wide range of musical styles, Phase! focuses on the style that intrigues it the most: Bedroom experimentation. The plot is simple. Home-made recordings (lo-fi is not mandatory here) by a single person at his bedroom on a 12” side-length representation. Each volume will be strictly limited and hand-numbered to 99 copies in an offset printed custom hand-cut jacket.

“39” by Silvia Kastel is a numb-feel exploration on isolation and singularity through space and darkness. Neuter beats, crawling vibratos, synesthetic repetitions and robotic ambiances form a two-piece electronic work, hymn to the loneliness of the (artistic) existence. The title track features synthetic chatter on Dylan Thomas’ “Poem 39” while its accompaniment, “Subtract”, flirts with disorientation through distortion and low sparse kicks. Music by SK. Lyrics by Dylan Thomas "Poem 39". Mastered by Raymond Dijkstra.
Edition of 99 copies in offset printed custom hand-cut wrap-around jackets on top of black disco bags.

ARKLIGHT
- Eternal Life in New York City CDR

NYC's own Arklight unearths from the basement a stunning album which features outsider songwriting through stripped playability. Crafting sincere songs on the verge of 90s era 4AD melancholy and Shadow Ring's isolated ghost reverb, Arklight have been restlessly modifying their sound, this time transforming into a standard rock-trio format to breathe new life into it, the mature epitome of decaying urban loneliness. DEAD GUM
- Gainer LP/CD

Panagiotis Spoulos (Wham Jah, Reverse Mouth, also labelhead of Phase! in Greece), as Dead Gum, mainly uses guitar and voice through minimal effects to create instant songs, psychedelic collages and direct, stripped-down bursts. The music itself –partially improvised but fully psychographic– has anthropocentric characteristics and lo-fi character and flirts with punk, bedroom pop and analog noise. 2014 finds Dead Gum heavily working on his debut studio album under the title “GAINER”. Co-produced with Haris Zourelidis, “GAINER” includes more song-crafted gig highlights like “Dare” and “Afraid of Heights” and carries a new approach to the Dead Gum sound. His first take in high fidelity without compromising the signature erratic and edgy performance.

OWLBITES
- S/T CDR

"Using field recordings (environment/manipulated bird songs), old piano recordings (memories) and guitar drones (fear), this is an exercise in the limitations of ambient music and it's trying to approach sound in a dynamic way, working consciously on forms and structures in order to create an illusion of order. ‘Owlbites' is nocturnal in its character and it's trying to explore the feeling of fear in an unfamiliar environment. On this occasion the field recordings were made after midnight in a abandoned house in the middle of a forest throughout a whole week of “nocturnal terror”. How do we cope with these feelings? We create our own imaginary familiar environment, full of happy memories from the past (childhood) and sounds that comfort us." -Owlbites

  PHR-115 (co-released w/ Viande Records + More Mars Team)
ARNAUD RIVIERE & MARIO[ASPEC[T]/ASPIRALE] / BALINESE BEAST
- SchengenShenzhen LP

'SchengenShenzhen' has just been dropped off and, oh boy, did this took quite a good deal of effort to come out as it not only assembles two of the most intriguing European noise/imrpov duos, namely Arnaud Rivière / Mario Gabola and Balinese Beast, it was also co-released under the aegis of three different labels, Athenian weirdo outlets Phase! and More Mars and Mario's own venture into improvised music, Viande Records.
The first side, moving closer to the harsher end of the spectrum, is dedicated to the documentation of a live collaboration from 2011 between Parisian turntable mutilator Arnaud Rivière who's using reconstructed phonographs and prepared mixing boards and Mario Gabola from Naples who is one half of Aspec(t) and one third of A Spirale - for the purposes of this recording he provides feedback and resonance by self-made instruments and percussion. The opening track, Fragment is a really hard-edged but neat assortment of hisses, distortion, percussive patterns, silence and feedback failures adorned towards the end by spastic crashes, howls and turntable onslaught. It Is Quite Complicate on the other hand is a way more solid artifact whose radio fragments of the first seconds give way to an avalanche of textured noise and monumental eruptions. This Is No Sax Song briefly closes the side with fast-paced flops, metallic clangs, chopped feedback and tiny pauses.
On the flip-side, Athenian charmers Balinese Beast (Giorgos Axiotis and Ilan Manouach), counting more than ten releases over the past four years, attempt here a shift from their usual frenzied and hyper-active cut-up style towards somehow longer structures - despite the fact that once again they succeed to pack five tracks in less than 18 minutes using their routine gadgetry of samplers, drum machines, no input mixers and free saxophones. Still, their material is hard to pin down. The opening track Pronounce features a really superb upright bass sample that acts as a nexus that holds the piece together and is occasionally decorated by sparse drum machine patterns and exquisite reed blowing. The static that opens Colcannon Night is held together by a constant metallic hum, gradually sliced by noises and sampled jazz tracks, ending with some sweet sax playfulness, while Midi Market features some oriental pipe patterns, overwhelmed by some Euro-dance sounding raw synth build-ups. Thanks Mom is a typical Balinese smart cut-up and rearrangement celebration but one of the highlights is the closing track La Dépêche De Tahiti, a true slow burner with an elegiac opening, a few slow moving layers of mournful sax and some delicate gestures on top of spiraling synth lines. Overall, a record that places all four of them in the highest ranks of the freak register.

XYSM
- CH40 CD

XYSM, as an acronym, stands for the first names of Christos (in Greek: Χρίστος) Chondropoulos, Yannis Saxonis, Sèbastien Marteau and Manolis Chatzidakis. XYSM also stands out as an example of an outsider band that doesn’t go with the (global) flow but follows a maverick, visionary instinct. An instinct so strong and bold as to create an urge to experiment that is propelled by a juvenile thirst – combined with the maturity that stems from the long separate paths of the four musicians through the years.
“CH4O” is XYSM’s first proper release on a factory pressed CD, in a larger quantity, by a record company. Even though the band made these recordings for this purpose, it can surely be nothing more than just a glance of XYSM’s wide range of musical expression, aesthetics and amalgamated dynamics. This mini album focuses in the space exploration and restrained crescents created by percussion, modular electronics, reeds and amplified zither. Try to catch them in one of their rather infrequent live appearances, enjoy this album and be sure to check out some of their other recordings. You never know what the next track might be like.
Edition of 300 copies w/ oversisized, fold-out offset printing, housed in a PVC sleeve. Includes extensive liner notes by Panagiotis Spoulos.

ADAM_IS
- Calcinatio / Nigredo 2xCDR

Calcinatio is the first step in most alchemical processes, it is the thermal decomposition of a material. Elements are submitted to fire, superheating them until all impurities dissolve into ash. What's left is only that which is essential, only that which can embody the transcendent.
Nigredo, blackness, that which is blacker than black, means putrefaction or decomposition. The first step in the pathway to the philosopher's stone where all alchemical ingredients had to be cleansed and cooked extensively to a uniform black matter. The time of despair and disillusionment when an individual confronts the shadow within.
"Calcinatio / Nigredo" is Adam_is' (the man behind Putsum, Zombie Penguin and numerous other projects) most ambitious and self-defining work to-date: a dark, loner style, no-neck black blues journey into the depths of the loneliness of the self.
Edition of 200 copies w/ 3-color screenprinted custom gatefold cover, screenprinted inner and pro-printed CDRs.

PHIL MINTON & DYLAN NYOUKIS
- Live in Athens 1-sided LP

"it was in dhalgren that i had read about a father getting fired, and who trying not to depress his family about it, wakes up every day, shaves, dresses himself up, has breakfast and leaves for his "work". where does his spent his almost 8 to 10 hours? a mystery. perhaps crying on a park's bench or drinking or whatever. however, there are times when reality creates even more dystopian images than those in sam delaney's aforementioned opus... it was through such events that our interest in the human voice was brought again forward, and it was upon a discussion on the instruments that we might fancy to hear after the quake of our mechanized world, that we decided on the human voice. it was something that evolved naturally, as since the depression's outbreak, little by little we've started digging recordings of the human voice (voice as the original instrument to quote joan la barbara's classic recording). so when the idea of setting up a live set focused only on the human voice came up, the names of phil minton and dylan nyoukis were thrown on the table immediately and without hesitation we invited them for what turned out to be one the most physical and vital live sets we had set up for a looong time. a set of vocal pirouettes and juxtapositions between dylan and phil which send us flying for almost half an hour that night at the basement of knot gallery and once again fueled our enthusiasm for adventure and quest. besides this, it turned into a great opportunity for 3 fellow conceptualists (ourselves) to collaborate on something they fancied and out of their enthusiasm this document is being released." PUTSUM

Three Putsum live performances which took place between late 2011 and early 2012. He proved that Vlad Tepes Dracula was a vegetarian using a caustic reference to reality TV, shouted that Black Metal is not a caucasian-male exclusive benefit, and ressurrected Christ to a fucking zombie, which is something more rational, by the way. The Putsum performances stand between conceptual art, arte povera and punk actionism but the music itself has something else: the unique blended sequence of a madman's mind. DJ MISTAKES
- 1-sided LP

“DJ mistakes are two exercise bicycle driven turntables fabricated and ridden by Casey Farnum and Elliot Hess. This project re-introduces spontaneity into the DJ experience and asks how production and industry have assembled to create a listening experience quite different from the hand-cranked turntables it was initially borne from. With a shrug to the practice of crystallizing performances and their reception through vinyl and the audiophile entertainment- center this project re-introduces human touch into the listening experience. It looks back nostalgically to a time when gears and bicycles were the stuff of aural and physical revolutions. Yet it also seeks a contemporary framework in the DJ era where cutting and mixing revolutionized production making it both unpredictable and live. Bikes, turntables, gongs, a mixer, records, and a microphone all mash in this recording live from the Chicken Hut and 1086 Broadway, Brooklyn NY 2006-7.” Phil Schapp, 2011

FEEL ALRIGHT
- Hahahahahaha 1-sided LP

"First time on vinyl, Tonal Plexus breaks its cherry with an essential, instant-classic, soulful re-issue: Feel Alright’s debut album (previously released on cassette format only).
Black 140 gr vinyl, limited edition of 250 copies. Housed in an offset printed jacket on 350 gsm cardstock with 29x29cm double-sided insert.

Feel Alright from Calgary, Canada is the singer/songwriter solo moniker of Craig Elliott Fahner. The eight songs that appear in the original version of “Hahahahahaha” carry a neo-psychedelic, garage pop texture and with witty, ultra-catchy songwriting abilities and skillful/soulful performance, they truly place this album at the No.1 spot of the genre. It’s like the quintessence of pop lyricism, which hits bull’s-eye to the heart of the listener. It’s like the record you fall in love with within the first couple of seconds. It’s like past and future blend with present and make you feel eternal. It’s like the best album any Oh See never wrote. Just listen to it and reading this will be unnecessary.

“With toes (and microphones) dipped all over North America, Montreal-by-way-of-Calgary’s Feel Alright despoil the bountiful splendor of granulated catch. Craig Fahner’s vocal vacation sails dreamily, steady groovin’ along the sun’s riff-o-rays as our subverted ear plunges into the infinite garden of a hook-filled mind. Top of the pops! A grippers delight!” Weird Canada

“Feel Alright is the brainchild of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania via Alberta artist Craig Fahner, a gentle reconstruction of avant-la-lettre garage pop that conflates at least three decades of raw, distinctly lo-fi guitar music.” No Fear of Pop

CHRIS FORSYTH & NATE WOOLEY
- Third LP

"We’ve been great fans of ‘The Duchess of Oysterville’, the first outing from the duo of Chris Forsyth & Nate Wooley on cd some years ago on Creative Sources (with a follow-up later on Chocolate Monk), and had been looking for an opportunity to work with them if possible. Their duo is one of those cases that reveal different and unexpected qualities from the participants, and points to a third mind of shorts at play, a meeting that seems to open up the two towards an underexplored territory. With a palette consisting of guitar and trumpet, they make together music that often focuses on an ugly/beautiful scorched earth territory of hissing subtlety. ‘Third’ was recorded live in concert on March 16, 2013 in Philadelphia and mastered by Bhob Rainey.
Chris Forsyth is a lauded guitarist and composer whose work often assimilates art-rock textures with vernacular American influences. Long active in underground circles, he’s recently released a string of acclaimed records of widescreen guitar rock, including 2014’s Intensity Ghost (No Quarter) that have brought his music to the attention of a wider audience. Forsyth first became active in the experimental scene in the 2000s as a founding member of the unclassifiable experimentalists Peeesseye (w/ Fritz Welch & Jaime Fennelly). He’s also collaborated with Tetuzi Akiyama, Nate Wooley, Shawn Hansen, Koen Holtkamp, Chris Heenan, and choreographer Miguel Gutierrez. He is a recipient of a 2011 Pew Fellowship in the Arts and resides in Philadelphia.
New York based trumpeter Nate Wooley has performed on over 100 recordings. Increasingly acknowledged internationally, Wooley’s specific style is part of a burgeoning revolution in experimental trumpet technique with the likes of improvisers Evan Parker, John Zorn, Anthony Braxton, and Thurston Moore. His own compositions expand conceptions of linguistic based embouchure manipulation and utilize the trumpet to control amplified feedback." - Rekem Records

HIROKI SASAJIMA
- Circle Wind CD

"Circle Wind is constructed of field recordings from Hiroki Sasajima’s Tokyo home as well as Kanagawa, Nagano and Niigata. The aim of the release is to capture “feeble vibration and the passage of air” in some kind of delicate meditation. This is the centre of Sasajima’s work: to record sounds and present them in a way which ensures the listener considers their capture, their background.
The album succeeds on those terms, and it’s best listened to without distraction. The recordings aren’t slight, and there’s enough recorded so you won’t lapse into inattention if you have the disc on in the background. But to do so would be to ignore the transformation in focus you’ll undergo while listening.
Almost invariably, album tracks fade in at the beginning and out at the end, so even though the subject matter may differ (broadly speaking, from summery-sounding tracks of insects to mysterious clacks and darkened night tones) the way in and out of the sound-world is similar.
There’s not the remove we’d normally have with these sounds. Subtleties – droplets of rain – are recorded in such close proximity the mic distorts, we’re bludgeoned by the sounds, so it’s almost impossible to separate them from white noise. ‘Expanding Air’ is where nature overpowers the recordist’s gear with Merzbow-esque relish, with a wash of white noise to remind us who’s boss.
Certain tracks on the album appear to act as a daylight bulb does to those in lightless winters – as a way to stave off the season’s depressive chill by injecting a touch of summer to the gloom. It would be impossible to listen to ‘Village’ without feeling sweat on one’s neck, without searching for unseen insects. Tracks like ‘Shade Leaf’ bring to mind some of Seaworthy’s placidity, but with a less natural feeling of sound acquisition.
On the other side of the spectrum, ‘Calmness’ adds a touch of darkness to the disc. Clacking noises, and what appears to be slightly-echoed rain and resonant sounds threaten to overwhelm the listener’s hearing, but hover just below painful. The darker tracks aren’t quite as evocative as the insect-driven ones, though the close drawn by ‘Momentum’ certainly gives the listener an uneasy ending.
Curiously, the recordings here were all made between midnight and dawn. For a city-dweller, this knowledge is revelatory. The assumption made while listening to Circle Wind is that what’s being recorded was captured in the full flush of daylight, maybe dusk (at a pinch). To know such activity is occurring when we traditionally assume the world is quiet, at rest, is refreshing.” -Luke Martin at Cyclic Defrost

HUMAN ADULT BAND
- Trash Pickin' 7"

"The Butthole Surfers of the East coast are at it again. Not that region matters all that much when you’re living the dream of what punk could have been. This two song 45rpm 7” hits the perfect pitch of post-punk grunge which had the smart ones shouting ‘the Americans are coming!’ in 1987. Think of The Surfers, The Cows, Truman’s Water. Maybe not something you’d expect to come out of New Brunswick, but maybe I’m overthinking it for you. Albini-meanie but foremost about rock and roll like San Diego’s fluf, Trevor Pennsylvania sings about his muse on “Garbage & th’ Trees.” It’s got AmRep brutality and Subterranean Pop irony. “Night Terrors” is suitably darker, splicing anthemic verses with a steely-cold spasm in between – a rare moment of instrumental freedom for the Human Adult Band, and the only place no trace of humor can be found. Sometimes dreams can be the harsher reality.” -Animal Psi

MIKE COOPER - Light on a Wall LP

"New album from Mike Cooper recorded live on Radio Lebanon in Beirut. Cooper plays electric lap steel and sings several of his 'Spirit Songs' - a body of vocal works that he has been presenting live over the past few years. These 'songs' are constructed by chopping up - (William Burroughs /Brion Gysin/Tom Phillips style) - Gravity's Rainbow and V - two novels by Thomas Pynchon. No chords, melodies or harmonic patterns for each song are planned prior to them being performed. Both accompaniment and the songs melody are improvised during each performance rendering each performance unique. There are other recorded versions of these pieces which, by the very nature of this approach to presentation, are completely different.

This set differs radically from other versions also because it was recorded using an electric Vietnamese lap steel guitar (as apposed to his usual electro-acoustic resonator guitar) heavily processed through a vintage Kaos Pad and Zoom Sampletrack looper. The guitar has built in, on board, distortion, wah-wah and tremolo. The result is a more dense and 'heavy metal' sound than is usually associated with Cooper's music.

All the songs and improvisations are original apart from the last track Masters At War - a version of an anti war song from the sixties written by a master of the genre but here presented as a thundering call to throw light on a wall... " -Backwards

Various - NOSTRA SIGNORA DELLE TENEBRE 2xLP (Limited edition colored vinyl)

"There was a time in Italy when movies did not suck. Or at least, when they sucked, they did it in a graciously peculiar way. Alongside the world-famous auteurs (the Fellinis, the Viscontis, the Bertoluccis), there was a plethora of lesser known, critically unappreciated directors, often mockingly called cinematografari, frantically tackling (and twisting) every kind of movie genre: western, comedy, thriller. For some reason, they excelled especially in their wild, sick take on horror and crime dramas – and music played a big role in these successes. Classically trained composers like Ennio Morricone and Stelvio Cipriani rubbed shoulders with former pop stars-turned-soundtrackers like Nico Fidenco and Pino Donaggio and together happily immersed themselves in the muddy waters of this cinematic swamp, creating their own distorted versions of the funk, psychedelia and beat rock canons. The aberrant results were then applied like thick make-up to equally mind-boggling, malevolent, highly stylized movies from directors like Dario Argento, Lucio Fulci or schlock uebermeister Joe D’Amato. For a brief period it worked at the box office too. “Nostra Signora delle Tenebre” is a tribute to that extraordinary, by-gone era now apparently forgotten in Italy too. It is a tribute to the gloriously adventurous soundtracks of maybe somehow less glorious horror and giallo flicks – movies that anyway retained a decidedly Italian flavour, a bizarre mix of nasty violence, lurid sexuality and feverish Catholic mysticism, all filtered through a manic obsession with death, blood and the sins of the flesh. At the same time, this album is a way to celebrate a small but thriving national scene, generally labeled under the admittedly lazy banner of “Italian occult psychedelia” and championed by the likes of Simon Reynolds and Julian Cope while at the same time getting growing interest from music magazines, with several features on The Wire, Vice, Fact Magazine, Tiny Mixtapes, Foxy Digitalis etc. “Nostra Signora delle Tenebre” gathers together almost all the best bands in the scene: groups like Michael Gira’s favourites Father Murphy, Lay Llamas and Mamuthones (now both on Rocket Recordings), Heroin In Tahiti, Cannibal Movie and Jennifer Gentle, probably the best known Italian indie band abroad and whose “A New Astronomy” album is considered a forefather of the genre. We asked these bands to revive some of our favourite horror and giallo soundtracks from the 60’s and the 70’s. They did it in their own way, and it sounds good. Limited (FIRST) edition of 500 copies of which 100 copies as special edition available through Backwards only, and 400 on black vinyl (as standard edition). SHADOW BAND / KING DARVES / QUIT / HUMAN ADULT BAND
- Split 7''

"7" Record Compilation. This is a group owned compilation made by bands and artists brought together in the eclectic underground of New Brunswick, NJ after the turn of the century. A collective spirit brings brand new tracks by each artist/group. Side A offers the folk side of the spectrum. Side B offers the out-rock side of the spectrum. "...very easy to replay, which I've been doing again and again; long may the Spirit of New Brunswick fly on." exclaims Larry Fuzz-o Doleman of Blastitude Blog and webzine. "Another fine release housed in a great sleeve and well worth picking up." states Simon Lewis and Andrew Young of Terrascopic Rumbles. "This scene has been perplexing me for years. In the best way possible...A very solid spin" confirms Byron Coley in WIRE Magazine. Cryptoid artwork by Kotar." -D.I.H.D.

THE YOU AND WHAT ARMY FACTION / RITA MOSSS
- Split 7''

"Two acts from Athens, Greece share a split 7-inch. Rita Mosss is a punk duo that's active since 1999. Their side reminds us not only of the true essence of punk-rock and noise-rock, but also to be aware of global political events. The music features fast and intense drumming combined with a raging fat fuzzy bass and a unique voice screaming on top of it. You can hear a lot of post-punk even post-metal/hc influences. The sound of the You And What Army Faction, a post-punk 4-piece, will be of interest to fans of a.o. The Ex, Sonic Youth, Swans, The Birthday Party, Fugazi, Dead Moon and -at least- a dozen other names." -Clearspot

GARETH WILLIAMS & MARY CURRIE
- Flaming Tunes CD

"Flaming Tunes, the 1985 cassette release by Gareth Williams and Mary Currie, finally gets its first CD release. Where possible we have gone back to the original crumbling masters which have been lovingly baked to bring you the best possible audio. It also comes with a 16 page booklet which includes Gareth Williams' handwritten lyrics and some sumptuous visuals.

The album was recorded after Gareth left This Heat in the early 1980’s and returned from the first of several trips to India. Except for its initial release there has been no official edition of FT, although a bootleg CD from the late 1990’s included the tape in its entirety. It was wrongly described as "This Heat’s final demo recordings" which was a great cause of annoyance to Gareth.

He considered the Tunes album a deliberate attempt to create a music with a different mood and texture to the often harsh and uncompromising This Heat recordings, whilst giving full reign to his eclectic tastes and distinctive musical stylings." -Life And Living Records

SLICING GRANDPA
- Untitled 7"

Low vibration americana. Three tracks of previously released Grandpa goodness (from long gone tape and cdr editions) that begged for vinyl treatment. The raunchy boogie stomp menace of Grandpa IV, the hedonistic early-industrial vibe of Fuck You and the epic slow burner Falling On Grace that channels a underwater bridge from Berkeley to Port Chalmers. Each gatefold photocopy cover features two different colourized paste-ons. Labels are hand written and drawn. Every Little Skull Dude is a new experience. One time edition of 150 copies.

“Archival single by this presumably still-existant West Coast post-form ensemble. These tracks remind me a bit of the very early Jackie-O Motherfucker stuff. It`s a chaotic melange of noise with free rock action underneath and hints of bad attitude galore” Byron Coley/The Wire 08/12

"Grandpa IV" is no-fi swamp-dogging, reminds me of a really fucked Beck track with a death metal riff, drums out of a can and zombies on backing vox. A great tune that I wouldn't mind people hearing as their intro to the "band". "Fuck You" is industrial-style fuckery, hammering drum box on repeat, feedback as instrument and a loopy thing that sounds like a reverbed spring or electrified coil or some shit. Noise, noise, noise. B-Side is "Falling On Grace", a fidelity-free droner, with muffled screams, creepily building guitars and live drums adding up to an eerie noisescape that sounds like it's slowly being smothered with a pillow or submerged in a vat of glue. Arty and frightening” Rich Kroneis/Terminal Boredom

MAMA LUMA
- Splendid LP

"Mama Luma is a free-jazz improvisation trio, formed by Christos Yermenoglou, Haris Agoritsas and Pavlos Pavlidis (Fun With Nuns). Their music is entirely created at the moment, based mostly in the spontaneous interaction between musicians. They use tenor/alto sax, electric quitar, percussion and toys. What they present us here is 8 tracks that derived from their long live sessions at royal Alzheimer hall studio, took place in Thessaloniki, in 2013. Their music explores a wide spectrum of soundscapes that at times is driven by an instinctive impulse of brutality and sonic chaos and sometimes it is more like a spontaneous co-created structure of improvised music". -More Mars

DEAD GUM
- Doubleganger CDR

Dead Gum is the solo project of Panagiotis Spoulos (other projects of his include: Reverse mouth, Wham Jah, Postblue, and running Phase! Records), from Athens, Greece. This past summer we toured with Dead Gum in Greece and we were blown away every night. Doubleganger is quite a journey, the constant thread seems to be loner style electric guitar that feels like the end of it all … quite, desolate, brutal, noisy, and 100% sincere. Handmade screen printed Art work by Colleen Kinsella (10 songs – 38 minutes)
